Background
Partnering with Campfire NYC, we set out to create a completely immersive Westworld experience for San Diego’s Comic-Con. The event was a tactile escape from reality; placing visitors into the world of Delos. Upon arrival guests were escorted through a Delos branded door, into a showroom reminiscent of the show. Additional elements sure as the wall of cast heads and entry hallway were recreated for the experience, while a few surprises and Easter eggs for future seasons were added along the way. The final destination for visitors was in the Mariposa saloon, complete with specialty cocktails, a player piano, and a custom built saloon.
Design & Development
This project brought with it several unique challenges. Apart from the very quick timeline, we were looking at retrofitting at existing space. Our goal was to work with the space when we could, and cover it completely when we needed to. Part of this process involved analyzing the best way to utilize flow through the floor plan, and how to create natural “barriers” for guests without building anything physically.
Fabrication & Installation
Working alongside several vendors (and producing plenty of elements in house) we created our kit of parts to both create our specific user journey, as well fill in the space to make it completely immersive.
